How we research
- Manufacturer specs and manuals first. Capacities, tray sizes, power draw, pump details, warranties and prices come from each brand’s own product pages, manuals and warranty documents. We link the source and show the date we last checked it.
- Official food-safety guidance. Food-safety statements cite recognized authorities such as the National Center for Home Food Preservation and university extension services, along with the manufacturer’s own instructions.
- No first-hand claims. We don’t run machines in a lab and we don’t claim personal use of the products we compare. Where we mention owner reports, we say so and link the source.
- Math you can check. Cost examples show every input and formula, so you can swap in your own electricity rate and supply prices.
- Kept current. Prices and models change often. Pages carry a “last checked” date, and we update them when something changes.
